South Valley Aquatics Director (SOVA) and Head Water Polo Coach

Michael Yenigues has been coaching youth sports for over 25 years. He is currently a certified USA Water Polo Coach, a certified USA Swimming Coach, and a certified Water Safety Instructor. Yenigues earned a master’s degree (MA) in Coaching and Athletics Management and a second master’s degree (MS) in Coaching and Exercise Science. Yenigues coached varsity high school water polo and swimming at Mt. Whitney High School, Clovis East High School, and currently at El Diamante High School. Coaching club water polo with SOVA for the last 9 years, Yenigues brought teams to the USA Junior Olympics National Championship Tournament in the Boys 18U, Boys 16U, Boys 14U, and COED 12U age groups. His COED 12U team in 2023 earned the top seed in the Central Zone and finished 7th in the nation at the highest (Platinum) level. Yenigues successfully created and integrated a USA Swimming Club into SOVA to ensure Visalia has a competitive swim option for student-athletes. Yenigues also successfully partnered with the Visalia Unified School District to create the Middle School Water Polo Program to expand the local school district athletics to include water polo at the middle schools.
